The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed the 14 host countries for the ICC men’s white-ball events for the period 2024-2031. 11 full members and three associate members have been selected to host two ICC Men’s Cricket World Cups, four ICC Men’s T20 World Cups and two ICC Men’s Champions Trophy events.
South Florida To Host Cricket World Cup Next Year
The United States and Namibia are hosting an ICC World Cup for the first time. While Australia, Bangladesh, England, Ireland, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Scotland, South Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe hosted major events in the past and will do so again in the next decade.
The hosts were selected via a competitive bidding process overseen by a subcommittee of the board chaired by Martin Snedden with Sourav Ganguly and Ricky Skerritt. The ICC Board of Directors accepted the recommendations of the committee, which conducted a thorough review of each offer in collaboration with ICC management. A similar process to identify hosts for ICC women’s and under-19 events for the next cycle will be conducted early next year.
ICC Chairman Greg Barclay said: “We are delighted to have concluded this tender process for the first time for ICC events. The fact that 14 members are organizing 8 events reflects the truly global nature of the sport and I would like to thank all members who submitted a bid and congratulate the successful bidders.
“It’s fantastic to return to so many previous hosts, but what’s really exciting about this process is the countries that will be hosting ICC events for the first time, including the United States, which constitute a strategic growth market for us. This gives us the opportunity to deepen our connections with fans in traditional cricket countries and also reach new fans across the world.

Martin Snedden, Chairman of the ICC Hosting Sub-Committee, said: “We have received a number of excellent offers to host ICC men’s events over the next cycle. We committed to finding a broad range of hosts to align with the ICC’s strategic goal of global growth and ultimately succeeded in recruiting 14 countries that will support this long-term goal.
Ricky Skerritt, Chairman of Cricket West Indies and ICC Board Member, said: “The success of this joint bid from the CWI and USA Cricket will be a huge boost for our cricket. It represents an important strategic opportunity to promote and develop cricket and related commercial activities in North America and the Caribbean. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the ICC, USA Cricket and the CWI who helped make this 2024 venue decision possible.”
The allocation of events to preferred hosts is dependent on the conclusion of hosting agreements and the ICC will now work closely with members to finalize arrangements. 17 members submitted a total of 28 proposals to host the eight ICC Men’s White Ball events.

After days of poor predictions, even a T20 World Cup final was unexpected. The angry cartoon thunderstorms failed to occur on a night hot and humid enough to cause them. Indian fans were expecting to see their team, but their performance in the semi-final did not have the expected success with the crowd, with more than 80,000 people still present in the giant Melbourne arena. As Pakistan fans filed past, the post-match presentations offered a manufactured euphoria of soaring choruses of Coldplay as golden glitter covered the grass and sparkled like a fleeting nightclub dream. The real euphoria was within the England team, whose podium finish was one of the least expected of all.
A month ago, England had the right to be favorites for the T20 World Cup. This was not the dominant team led by Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow causing the carnage as usual. Fixes were needed. But there were still destructive batters, varied bowling and Morgan’s legacy of aggression. Their preparations saw them face Pakistan in a thrilling seven-match series and then come to Australia for three matches to beat another good team at home.
Two weeks ago, that optimism was gone. England struggled to get going in a modest run against Afghanistan, losing to Ireland, and so looked lucky to avoid a possible knockout against Australia thanks to rain. The question marks and calculated risks in the XI looked like structural flaws, the long preparation period looked like a recipe for fatigue. Reaching the final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground was a distant hope.
As in any good action film, the car comes to life at the last possible moment. So it was, with players who had been marginalized, sidelined or sidelined during their England careers, all being fired when there was no other option. Start at the top with Alex Hales, out of national service since 2019 due to Morgan’s concerns about character flaws. Small returns in the early matches gave way to 52 against New Zealand, 47 against Sri Lanka and 86 not out against India; 185 off 117 balls in a knockout series.
Australia Win ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 With Special Victory Over England
Let’s move on to Sam Curran, long sought after within teams as a player considered useful without ever being the first choice. Was he wanted for late hits, or for casual hits, or for a player to run bowling like a cartoon burglar carrying a bag? Throughout this World Cup, he played his entire field, culminating with three for 12 figures and player of the final and tournament awards.
Now on to Moeen Ali, introduced and excluded in all formats, now playing an established role in the middle order. He needed a boost and his three boundaries in the 17th over swung the chase irrevocably in England’s favor. Let’s move on to Chris Jordan, a specialist fill-in defender until Mark Wood was injured, once a resolute death thrower whose days of shouldering that responsibility were thought to be over. In this match, two overs removed Babar Azam and Shan Masood while in charge, one to dismiss Shadab Khan and a 20th over to deny a late mayonnaise.
And then there’s Ben Stokes, purveyor of dramatic endings. Not so good in 2016, when his bowling launched four times into the Kolkata skies as Carlos Brathwaite clinched a title. This evening is now offset by this and an opposing batting performance. Stokes was surplus to requirements for a team that could not support two presenters, but Dawid Malan’s injury tipped the scales. He barely needed to chase the Powerplay and the situation in this final suited his slow start. He spat and whistled his way to 24 off 34 balls, which is normally a crime in this form, but had time to regain control, finishing with three big hits, a positive strike rate, his first 50 in the format and winning points.
But perhaps the most important was Adil Rashid. Since 2019, when the leg-spinner played his part in England’s one-day World Cup victory, there has been speculation over whether he should be replaced. Aging is a demanding process for cricketers, especially those whose fielding has never been strong and whose batting
