Shreyas Iyer and Lokesh Rahul scored hundreds to help India to nine wins in nine matches and a 160-run victory over the Netherlands in the final group stage match of the Cricket World Cup on Sunday.
Iyer hit his maiden World Cup century, hitting 128 off 94 balls, while Rahul notched India’s fastest World Cup run as the hosts piled on at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The pair put on 208 runs in 21 overs for the fourth wicket. Rahul scored a 62-ball 100, surpassing Rohit Sharma’s record of 63 against Afghanistan in Delhi earlier this tournament.
In all, the two-time champions had five batsmen score 50 or more in their innings and finished with a score of 410-4, the fifth-highest total in the World Cup. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gil put on 100 for the first wicket. Virat Kohli was out for 51 but will probably remember this match as he claimed his first ODI wicket in almost a decade.

Jasprit Bumrah (2-33) and Mohammed Siraj (2-29) shared four wickets as the Dutch were dismissed for 250 in 47.5 overs.

Just as Kohli found his rhythm, Roelof van der Merwe stunned the Indian crowd in the 29th over. He bowled the star batsman who was looking for a record 50th ODI no out.
The score was then 200-3 and the Iyer-Rahul stand was not broken until the final over.

Iyer scored the first 50 off 48 balls before accelerating to another 50 off 36 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes in the process. He scored another 28 off the last 10 balls they faced.

“This was a game where we could try a few things. The seamers bowled those wide yorkers when it wasn’t needed but we wanted to do it. As a bowling unit we wanted to try and do something different and see what we could achieve.”
India made a change from the previous match against South Africa in Kolkata which they won by a huge 243 runs.
