The opening match of the 13th edition of the tournament will be a repeat of the 2019 final, with defending champions England taking on New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The one-day international (ODI) competition will take place across 10 stadiums, from Chennai in the south to Dharamshala in the north, Kolkata in the east and Ahmedabad in the west.
The venues are located at various locations across the country, from the Chidambaram Stadium on the beach in Chennai to the Dharamshala Stadium which sits amidst the picturesque mountains of the state of Himachal Pradesh and the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the heart of the capital New Delhi.
Some of these stadiums have been controversially renamed in recent years to honor former heads of state and prominent politicians. Most recently, the Ahmedabad Stadium was renamed after current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021, in a surprise move, hours before his inauguration.

One of the oldest cricket stadiums in the country and located in the heart of the Indian capital, the Arun Jaitley Stadium has hosted World Cup matches every time India hosted the tournament (1987, 1996 and 2011) .
