Cricket World Cup First Match 2023 – The International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI World Cup is one of the most anticipated events in the cricket calendar. Held once every four years, the tournament brings together the best cricketing nations from around the world to compete for the coveted title of World Champions.

The ICC World Cup 2023 will be held in India and will start on October 5, 2023 and continue till November 19, 2023, but the excitement about the tournament is already growing. This will be the first time that India will host the tournament exclusively in its home country. Earlier in 1987, 1996 and 2011, India organized the event in collaboration with neighboring countries Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The ICC announced the schedule for the 2023 ODI World Cup on Tuesday, June 27. The first match between England and New Zealand will be played on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The ICC Men’s 50 Over World Cup will follow the same format as the 2019 World Cup. A total of 10 teams will participate. There will be 48 matches. Top 8 teams from India, Pakistan, Australia, England, South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh have qualified for this tournament. The remaining 2 teams will be selected based on World Cup Super League matches. The tournament will be played in a round-robin format, with each team playing once against the other 9 teams. After the round-robin stage, the top 4 teams will qualify for the semi-finals and the top two teams will enter the finals.

10 teams will play in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. These are India, England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Afghanistan.

The matches will be played at many places across the country like Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi, Indore, Dharamshala, Guwahati, Rajkot, Raipur and Mumbai. Below is the list of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 stadiums:

As per the schedule, day/night games begin at 2:00 PM EST. The day’s matches will start at 10:30 AM ET. In total we have 6 match days and 42 D/N matches. India, England and South Africa are the three teams that will not play ODIs. On the other hand, the Bangladesh team will play a total of three ODIs.

Team India will begin their World Cup campaign on October 8 in Chennai against winners Australia. Other important matches will be against Pakistan in Ahmedabad (October 15), England in Lucknow (October 29) and South Africa in Kolkata (November 5). Apart from the above mentioned matches, Team India will also play 2 practice matches before the tournament. India will face England on September 30 in Guwahati and Qualifier 1 will be played in Trivandrum on October 3. The South Africa men’s cricket team will participate in the 13th edition of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 from October 5 to November 19.

The Temba Bavuma-led unit will begin their campaign against Sri Lanka in Delhi on October 7 and then travel to Lucknow to face Australia on October 12.

After a four-day break, the Proteas will face the Netherlands in Dharamsala. They will then take on defending champions England (October 21) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

South Africa’s last three matches are against New Zealand (Pune), India (Kolkata) and Afghanistan (Ahmedabad) on November 1, 5 and 10 respectively.

A) Like every other team, South Africa will play 9 matches in the league stage of the 2023 World Cup. They can play a maximum of 11 matches if they qualify for the finals.

The initial version of the schedule announced on June 27 had India and Pakistan playing on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The date of the original visit coincided with the first day of Navratri, an important nine-day annual festival celebrated in Gujarat.

Originally scheduled for October 14, the England-Afghanistan match was postponed to October 15. Similarly, the New Zealand vs Bangladesh match, which was originally scheduled for October 14, has been postponed to October 13. It is worth noting that the match will now be played in day-night conditions, deviating from the originally intended day format.

Pakistan’s match against Sri Lanka, scheduled for October 12, has been postponed to October 10 as expected. Additionally, the much-awaited match between Australia and South Africa has been pushed back by a day and will now be played on October 12 instead of the original October 13 date.

Most of the changes were made to the matches played in the second part of the tournament. The matches originally scheduled for November 12 – Australia vs Bangladesh in Pune and England vs Pakistan in Kolkata – have been postponed to November 11. On the other hand, India’s match against the Netherlands, originally scheduled for November 11, was actually moved to November 12 by swapping the two matches between those days.

The second change concerns the England-Bangladesh match to be played at Dharamshala on 10 October, which has been changed from its previous designation as a day-night match to a one-dayer.

Hosts Zimbabwe will take on Nepal on day one at the Harare Sports Club, who are looking to qualify for the men’s Cricket World Cup for the first time. Two-time men’s Cricket World Cup champions West Indies will also face neighbors USA on June 18 at the Takashinga Cricket Club.

Group B kicks off on June 19 in Bulawayo. 1996 World Champions Sri Lanka will take on the UAE at the Queen’s Sports Club, while Ireland will take on Oman at the Bulawayo Athletic Club.
