“By moving from Hotstar, the premium brand for South Asian content, to ESPN Plus and Hulu in the US, Disney expands its schedule of rich and diverse live events and stories and provides a broader platform for South Asian content audiences.”
Hulu will get all the entertainment content including thousands of Hotstar specials and popular Bollywood/South Asian movies. A selection of Bollywood content will be available on Hulu starting September 1, with thousands of additional movies and series episodes to be added in the future.
ESPN+ will bring new live cricket events, including VIVO IPL 2021, the world’s most popular T20 cricket league, which will resume its 14th season on Sunday, September 19 in the US on ESPN+ when Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians meet in Dubai. . The match will be the first of the remaining IPL matches (over 30) in the 2021 schedule, all available on ESPN+. Disney acquired the streaming platform when it acquired 20th Century Fox. Last year, Disney rebranded Hotstar in India as Disney+ Hotstar, bundling all its content into one streaming platform.
US Hotstar subscribers who don’t want to take advantage of the Disney Streaming Bundle offer can request a refund by September 30.
