In 2014, six spots were occupied by the top eight teams in the ICC Women’s T20I rankings, joined in the tournament by the host nation and three qualifiers. From 2016 onwards, seven positions determine the top eight teams in the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings, joined in the tournament by the host nation and two qualifiers.
