During a live broadcast, the video from the camera is encoded first. This is a way to compress video into large chunks without losing quality.
4. Once the video is uploaded, it is sent to your homes via satellite transmission or TV tower.
5. Then comes the live stream. This is what Hotstar does. The encryption process remains the same. But now, the video has to go through a streaming network and get to you over the internet (fiber optic cables laid under the sea).

6. During a live broadcast, the servers receive the video, but then broadcast it to the audience. For this, there is a need to open communication between users and servers. This connection is usually based on a persistent TCP connection maintained between the client and the server. This can be done using Websocket. The protocols used for this are usually HLS or MPEG-DASH.
7. However, these servers can be located anywhere in the world, the connection creation time and data transfer time can be large and cause a lot of delay.
8. This is where CDNs come into the picture, the live video (snippets) are stored on the CDN and the content is delivered to the users through this CDN. Hotstar uses Akamai as its CDN. The stream goes from the server to the CDN where it is stored and then reaches you via the CDN.
6. Therefore, whatever happens, there must be a reduction in this too. Before HLS and MPEG DASH this delay was about a minute. However, with these rules, the delay is reduced to 3-10 seconds. However, sometimes, TV broadcasts will be faster than live streaming.

Dream IPL 2020 is available for all Disney + Hotstar VIP and Premium subscribers. For new Disney + Hotstar VIP customers, an additional month of subscription will be added to the annual package. The company’s plan to offer an extra month is for cricket fans to watch the next IPL season.
The Disney+ Hotstar VIP plan is priced at ₹ 399 per year. Apart from IPL matches, this subscription plan offers all the catalogs of Marvel, Kids Entertainment, Bollywood Movies and Hotstar Specials. Disney+ Hotstar Premium costs ₹ 1,499 per year and comes with all VIP features along with access to original Disney+.
