For the first time in 3 years, BCCI is organizing an IPL closing ceremony which will see performances by Bollywood superstar Ranveer Singh and music composer AR Rehman. The theme is 75 years of India’s independence.

“It will be a mega closing ceremony not because it is happening after many years but also because it is 15 years of IPL. It is a milestone in itself. Also we will celebrate 75 years of independence through Mr. Rahman’s concert. So, we were very excited when we received the contract from BCCI,” the director of TCM, the organizers of the IPL 2022 closing ceremony, Chanda Singh told the InsideSport website in an exclusive chat.

The IPL closing ceremony will be held for the first time after three years. The last time it was carried out was in 2019. The closing ceremony begins at 18:30 IST.
The theme of the closing ceremony will be to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence and 15 years of IPL success. AR Rahman will dedicate the concert to celebrate seven decades of India’s cricket.

The former captains of Team India have also been invited and will be felicitated during the ceremony. More than 1 lakh people are expected to be present during the closing ceremony. For the first time, the IPL closing ceremony will be broadcast in augmented reality (AR). In total, more than 700 people will be held at the event.

“The first challenge is to make the event friendly to the audience in the stadium. Although the event will be broadcast live, you will also have to make the event accessible to the offline audience that is in the stadium. So, you can’t just focus your entire performance towards the camera. So you need a plan so that everyone can be a part of the experience,” added Chanda Singh.
“Our main attraction would be AR Rahman and his troops besides Ranveer Singh. We will have folk artists coming from all over India. We will have folk artists from all 10 states celebrating the 10 teams. There will also be various folk artists located in as many states have varied culture,” Chanda Singh added.
The IPL 2022 closing ceremony will be live on Star Sports network and Star Gold channel. The live stream of the ceremony will also be available on the Disney+ Hotstar website and app.

The 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) begins on Friday, March 31 with the match between the defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Host Gujarat Titans. led by all-rounder Hardik Pandya, has issued a warning to the convention of thousands of fans who are expected to return for the IPL 2023 opener.
Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) will run additional trips to accommodate fans following an agreement with the Gujarat Titans management. Metro service will be available until 01.30 (late night) on match days.
The franchisee has also identified 20 parking spaces where fans can park their vehicles and take a trip to the stadium. The possibility of pre-booking a parking space is available at www.showmyparking.com.
There will be a free shuttle between the car parks and the stadium. However, there is only a shuttle to and from selected car parks.

The opening of the tournament on Friday will be preceded by a grand opening ceremony. Therefore, entry for fans to the first day of IPL is allowed from 3 PM from all gates of Narendra Modi Stadium.
Gujarat Titans have also set up two fan zones at the stadium – at Gate No. 1 and 2 – with food courts and other activities. The franchisee advised fans to come back early for the pre-match entertainment. There will also be other food and drink facilities at the stadium.
Gate No. 2 will have a special entry area for differently-abled fans arriving in wheelchairs. Escorts guide fans in wheelchairs to their respective seats.
The Franchisee has published a list of Prohibited Articles at https://insider.in/ipl-gujarat-titans/article. In order to have a comfortable entrance to the stadium, fans are advised to avoid carrying prohibited substances.
