When it comes to the 50-over format, there is no equal to Indian batsman Rohit Sharma. It was in 2013 when the former vice-captain made history by becoming only the third Indian batsman to score an ODI double century. Before Rohit, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag were the only Indians to score 200+ runs in a one-day series.

Rohit achieved a rare feat in the seventh and final One Day International between Australia and India at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The 34-year-old played a brilliant and crucial knock of 209 runs. He faced 158 balls in the middle and hit 12 boundaries and 16 boundaries.
It was Rohit who came in at a crucial moment, as the ODI series was tied at 2-2. The Mumbai native’s brilliant knock took India to 57 runs and helped them win the seven-match ODI series 3-2. The last one-dayer between the two sides started with India batting first.

After Rohit’s 209 runs, India posted a massive 383 runs while losing six wickets. Apart from Rohit, skipper MS Dhoni and opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan looked good on the willow.
Dhoni was India’s second highest run-getter with 62 runs while Dhawan scored 60. It was a bad day at the office for Australia’s bowlers except for Shane Watson, who runs every ball at an economy rate of 7.5+ .
Chasing 384, Australia fought well. James Faulkner was the standout performer for the men in the yellow zone as he hit an excellent 116 off 73 deliveries. At one point in the match, Australia looked like favorites to win the match, however, the home bowler put in a good performance in the middle.
Mohamed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja were the pick of the bowlers for the visitors picking up three hat-tricks. Ravichandran Ashwin returned with two wickets while Vinay Kumar had one under his belt to help India to victory.
