Rohit Sharma Centuries In Odi Career
A report recently read that Pakistan’s Babar Azam’s latest ODI century, his 12th century, was the fastest to hit by Virat Kohli. Is this true? – Sudhir Kumar on Facebook
You are referring to Babar Assam’s 125 against Zimbabwe in the final of the ODI series at Rawalpindi on November 3, 2020. It was his 12th ODI century and it came in the 75th innings of his career. In doing so, he became the second fastest player to reach the milestone of 12 ODI centuries after South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, who achieved his 12th century one innings less than Babur in February 2017. Hashim Amla did it in 81 innings while Kohli needed 83 innings. So, now Babur has become the fastest to reach 12 ODI centuries by an Asian batsman. The table below contains the details:
151 players were used before the final in IPL 2020. Sunrisers Hyderabad used the maximum number of players (21), Mumbai Indians (15) the least. A summary based on the group of players used follows:

Rohit Sharma Full Profile: Biography, Stats, World Cup 2023 Records, Wife, Trivia
Rohit Sharma started his fight for the elite club against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, joining the club of elite batsmen to reach 10,000 ODI runs when he hit 23 with a consecutive six off Kasun Rajithav. Rohit now holds the second fastest record among 15 batsmen with 241 innings required behind Virat Kohli (205) but 18 innings faster than Sachin Tendulkar (259).
The feat would have been a dream come true for Rohit a decade ago, having yet to reach 2000 ODI runs after playing over 80 matches. But his promotion in early 2013 did wonders for his career. In his first four years as an ODI opening batsman, Rohit scored 3153 runs in 66 innings with 8 centuries. Two double centuries in 8, including a world record 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014. The next four years saw Rohit’s best batting success, where he scored 19 centuries in 70 innings and nearly amassed 4000 runs at an average of over 65. Rohit has been different since 2021, with his average dropping but his strike rate rising more than before. In the 24 innings he played during this period, he scored 916 runs at an average of 45.80 with a century, but at 106.38. Rohit scored 91.27 off his first 20 balls since taking over as India captain at the end of 2021. Until then, Rohit’s first 20-ball strike rate was just 64.22 and 65.42 since 2013.
With 8001 runs in 160 innings at an average of 55.95, the highest average in at least 50 innings, only Imam-ul-Haq (50.44) averages more than 50, Rohit’s success as an opener in ODIs cannot be matched. India’s batsmen have scored 28 centuries at the start, only behind Tendulkar’s 45. Rohit is known for his big centuries – eight of those 28 centuries were 150-plus scores – including three double centuries, while no one else had two. But the bottom line is that it was only after turning 30 that Rohit took his ODI batting to the next level. Returning from a long layoff due to injury in mid-2017, Rohit went on to score centuries in ten consecutive series. He followed it up with a dream World Cup in 2019, where he became the first player to break five centuries in a single edition.

20 of his 30 ODI centuries came after turning 30. Only two other batsmen have scored as many or more – Thilakaratne Dilshan (21) and Sanath Jayasuriya (21), but both have played more than 200 matches after the age of 30. Rohit’s average of 60.41 since turning 30 is the second highest of any batsman to score 1000-plus runs, behind AB de Villiers (63.64). Creates most beginner and unique six-shot abilities. As an opener, Rohit is consistent with his growing confidence. On average, Rohit scored 93.95 runs every time he crossed 50 runs. And when he hits a century, Rohit’s average score rises to 138, better than any batsman who has scored 15 or more centuries in ODIs. The success behind his big tongue is his acceleration to make up for a slow start. He scored 152.86 runs after facing 100 balls and his strike rate in the first 50 balls was just 78.6.
Rohit Sharma As Odi Captain Stats
Rohit’s record of sixes makes him a rarity among consistent batsmen. Rohit is third in the list of most sixes in ODIs after Shahid Afridi (351) and Chris Gayle (331). 17.11% of Rohit’s career runs have come from sixes, the highest for anyone who has scored more than 5000 runs at an average of 40. Martin Guptill is closest to Rohit at 15.27%. Rohit’s options can be considered in the ODI format. Between 2015 and 2020, he has amassed 5363 runs at 62.36 with 24 centuries in just 97 innings. Only Kohli (5832) has scored more runs in that period and has the highest average (68.61) among players with 1000-plus runs. No one else has scored 4500 runs or nearly 20 centuries in that period.
But while Rohit has enjoyed one of the most prolific phases of the ODI mix, Kohli has remained under the radar as he sets the bar higher than ever before. Rohit’s best run of 50 ODIs came in 2014
