22nd December 2017 was the day Rohit Sharma threw his willow and set the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on fire as he smashed a 35-ball knock. In doing so, he broke David Miller’s South African batting record for the fastest T20I hundred. The Mumbai Indians skipper smashed 8 sixes before reaching his century off the second ball of Angelo Mathews’ 12th over.

The right-hander paired with KL Rahul (89 off 49) and when the Karnataka batsman was dismissed, the Indian openers had made 165 runs in 12.4 overs. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul’s brilliance pushed India’s total to 260 for 5 at the end of 20 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka were bundled out for 172 in 17.2 overs. India won this match by 88 runs.
Rohit reached his fifty off 22 balls and hit it hard after that. Asela Gunaratne got 21 in the 9th over while skipper Thisara Perera hit four sixes on the trot in the 11th over.
Rohit Sharma hit a spectacular hundred off the first ball of his 12th over and achieved the milestone with a classic cover. Such was his acceleration after the half-century that he brought up a ton in just 12 balls.

With many records to his name, Indian star Rohit Sharma achieved another milestone on 22 December 2017 by scoring the joint fastest hundred in T20 Internationals.

Against Sri Lanka at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, Rohit reached the three-figure mark in just 35 deliveries. The right-handed batsman hit 118 off 43 balls. South African batsman David Miller also brought up his century off 35 balls against Bangladesh in Potchefstroom on 29 November 2017.
Against Sri Lanka, KL Rahul also smashed a stupendous 89 off just 49 balls, helping the men in blue to 260/5 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Sri Lanka were able to rally for 172 before being run out in the 18th over and losing the match by 88 runs.
Rohit, who is India’s vice-captain in the limited overs format, is second in the list of run-getters in T20Is. So far, he has scored 2773 runs in 108 matches with the help of four centuries.
The 32-year-old Rohit was not included in the three-match T20I series against Australia earlier this month, which India won 2-1. He is currently quarantined in Sydney and is expected to join the Indian squad for the final two Tests of the ongoing four-match series against Time Paine’s men.
