Sachin IPL – It was a carnival that time in 2008 when the IPL craze started and the top players came together to play the world’s best T20 league. Sachin was one of the iconic players in the first edition. He was appointed as the captain in his hometown franchise Mumbai Indians. Because the format was still in its infancy, elite players took a while to catch on. In the 2008 edition, Tendulkar scored just 188 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 106.21 and a half-century.

After a huge success in 2008, IPL was once again ready to move forward. But due to the elections in that country, the tournament moved to South Africa where the T20 journey to India began. 2009 was a great year for Sachin. On the fast pitches of Johannesburg and Cape Town, he scored 364 runs in 13 matches at an excellent strike rate of 120.13 with several half-centuries.

The year 2010 was when the God of cricket came to him in the IPL. He not only scored big runs but also won the Orange Cap in the 2010 edition. Tendulkar also led his team to the final against Dhoni’s CSK but ended up losing the final. In 2010, he scored 618 runs at a strike rate of 132.61 and 5 half-centuries. It was Sachin’s best season in IPL.

With the nation still riding high on the joy of an Indian winning the 2011 ODI tournament, Sachin scored his first IPL century. He picked up a ton against the now-defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala. Sachin scored a total of 553 runs at 113.31 that season and finished as the third highest run-scorer. His highest score was 100*. He led MI to the playoffs. They won the Eliminator against KKR but lost the 2nd Qualifier to RCB and finished 3rd.

Sachin ended his MI captaincy and handed over the baton to Harbhajan Singh in the 2012 edition. Sachin, a batsman, scored 324 runs at 114.48 with a half-century in that edition.

The world saw Sachin play his last IPL season in 2013 and ended it with a win. MI and Sachin won their first IPL title by beating CSK in the final at Eden Gardens. It was a great way to say goodbye to the story. In 14 matches that season, Sachin scored 287 runs at a rate of 124.24 with a half-century. Sunday after Arjun made his debut for Mumbai Indians.

Sachin (49), who retired as the top international cricketer with 100 centuries in 2013, played six seasons with Mumbai Indians and is currently the team’s consultant.

“Arjun, today you have taken another important step in your journey as a cricketer,” Sachin Tendulkar tweeted.

“As your father, a person who loves you and is in love with the game, I know you will continue to give the game the respect it deserves and the game will love you again.

“And it was great to get the MI captain’s cap with the Indian team.”

Sachin added that he had never seen his son play before: “It was a new experience for me because till now I had never gone to see him play. I just wanted him to be free to go out and express himself and do whatever he wants.

“And today I was also sitting in the dressing room because I didn’t want him to abandon his plans and start looking at the mega screen here and suddenly he realized that I was looking there. I was inside.

On April 16, 2011, Sachin Tendulkar completed the only milestone that could elude him in his illustrious career. Exactly 10 years ago today, Tendulkar scored his first and only century in T20 cricket and the Indian Premier League for Mumbai Indians in Mumbai.

Last time, Mumbai Indians v Tahir opening game, Sachin Tendulkar and Richard Levy were opening together (2012).

Tendulkar scored a 66-ball 100 not out as Mumbai Indians scored 182/2 from their 20 overs against now-defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala. The Little Master smashed 12 boundaries and six sixes in his 66-ball against the Kerala side.

Sachin opened the scoring with Davy Jacobs but Mumbai lost Jacobs early and Tendulkar joined Ambati Rayudu (53). The two slowly built innings before upping the ante and taking hits. Tendulkar completed his fifty on the first ball of the 14th over with a single from Ravindra Jadeja to deep square leg. His first fifty came off 43 balls, but as soon as he passed the historic mark, Tendulkar hit the accelerator and scored the remaining 50 runs in 23 balls to reach his maiden T20 and IPL century.

The century came off the last ball of the 20th over and in spectacular fashion as Tendulkar lifted his bat and soaked the atmosphere at the Wankhede Stadium.

In total, Tendulkar played 78 IPL matches and scored 2,334 runs at an average of 33.83. He also has 13 fifties to his name along with the only hundred he scored in a match against Kochi in 2011.

However, the day did not end well for Tendulkar and MI, one might say, as Kerala overwhelmed Mumbai with the bat. With Brendon McCullum’s 80 off 61 balls and skipper Mahela Jayawardene’s 56 off 36 balls, Kochi beat Mumbai by 8 wickets with an over to spare. McCullum was declared man of the match for his knock which included 10 fours and two sixes. The fans lit up the DY Patil Stadium with the famous songs of “Sachin Sachin” during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The incident happened in the middle of CSK’s matches, when batting great Sachin Tendulkar joined Harsha Bhogle for an interview from the sidelines.

Sachin Tendulkar’s IPL record is broken

Seeing the Indian legend on the big screen, the audience present in the hall went wild and the same could be felt on Twitter.

Several fans reflected on the same on the micro-blogging site and sent emotional tweets praising the “God of Cricket”.

Meanwhile, pacer Mukesh Choudhary spoiled the new ball before Tilak Varma’s half-century lifted Mumbai Indians to 155/7 in 20 overs.

Invited to bat, Choudhary (3/19) accounted for Rohit Sharma (0) and Ishan Kishan (0) in the first over and then dismissed Dewald Brewis (4), leaving Mumbai reeling at 23/3.

Yet this gong is difficult.

However, Varma’s unbeaten 51 off 43 balls, in which he hit four fours and two sixes, along with Jaydev Unadkat’s unbeaten 19, helped Mumbai cross the 150 mark.

In reply, Chennai Super Kings completed the chase in the last over, with MS Dhoni hitting the winning run. The 40-year-old wicketkeeper smashed 16 runs in the last four balls to lead his team home.
