How does the ‘God of cricket’ feel when he reaches the 10000 run mark in ODIs? It was a celebration as Sachin Tendulkar not only became the first batsman to reach the milestone but also achieved success against Australia.

The legendary batsman was looking good and on March 31, 2001 Master Blaster managed to reach the milestone with just 259 runs in Indore. Against Australia, Tendulkar scored 139 to help India win by 118 runs.
When Did Sachin Tendulkar Retired
For a long time, Tendulkar was one of the fastest to achieve this, but then came Virat Kohli. The Indian captain managed to reach the milestone in 205 overs.
There are currently 14 batsmen who have scored more than 10,000 runs in world cricket in ODIs.
Currently, Tendulkar is busy on social media asking his countrymen to abide by the law and follow government guidelines during the coronavirus outbreak.
He shared the video on Twitter and wrote: “Government and doctors are the best judges of how to manage # COVID19. Everyone should follow their own treatment recommendations. @MoHFW_INDIA.”
He Changed The Approach Of Batting In Odis’
“Since we are going through a difficult phase, it is important that we all cooperate. There are reports of patients running away from hospitals after being tested for the virus or those advised to follow quarantine guidelines by walking outside,” Sachin said in the video.
“It won’t help you or the community. The government is working with health professionals and they are the only ones who can help you recover in the best possible way. Therefore, it is important that we all follow their advice.”

DNA Exclusive | Jungle raj, legacy of corruption, 1 crore jobs: Why it’s easy to say ‘Nitish for PM in 2024’. One of the greatest batsmen in the world, Sachin Tendulkar played his last ODI against Pakistan on this day in 2012.
Unlike his Test career, which saw him pull the curtains in front of the entire nation as every Indian got a chance to bid farewell to the most important event ever, Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI career ended on a relative note. On 18 March 2012, Master Blaster donned the green jersey of India for the last time.
Little did Tendulkar know that he was playing his last ODI, the format that made him famous around the world. Although the Test match records are mostly professional, Tendulkar’s white ball heroics make him India’s favorite son.
Be it his unbeaten 200 at Gwalior, where the crowd saw one of the best knocks in ODIs, or Tendulkar’s famous 143 runs at Sharjah in 1998 to send Shane Warne and Michael Kasprowicz to it the whole park. Storm, the legendary batsman’s record of 49 ODI centuries is full of moments that have delighted his fans for 23 long years.
This Day, That Year: Sachin Tendulkar, In 259 Innings Became First To Reach 10,000 Odi Runs
Lest you forget, Tendulkar’s last ODI was memorable as he helped India defeat arch-rivals Pakistan in a high-scoring match of the 2012 Asia Cup in Bangladesh.
Misbah-ul-Haq, who won the toss, elected to bat first on a ready-to-play Mirpur pitch. And Pakistan’s Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed made the most of the conditions by putting on a mammoth standard of 224 for the first wicket.
Both gave Pakistan a strong start before Younis Khan’s quickfire 50 helped Pakistan score 330 runs in 50 overs. Indian bowlers Praveen Kumar and Irfan Pathan were usually taken to the stands in the first innings and India did not participate in the first innings.

Tendulkar, who had opened with 19 different knocks in his career since 1989 including Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid and many others, now opened for Team India with Gautam Gambhir.
Top Indian Batter To Remain In The Score Of 90s In Odi World Cup
However, the southpaw was dismissed with the second ball of the first over as Hafeez took a plumb before the wicket, leaving India to build a crucial partnership at the start. Virat Kohli came in and put together a 132-run partnership with Tendulkar to steady the ship.
Tendulkar scored his much-awaited century against Bangladesh during the 2012 Asia Cup. His shot showed the indifference of a man who has already climbed Mount Everest, seen in Aizaz Cheema’s style piece to hit the boundary for the second time.
Tendulkar’s knock of 52 runs featured five boundaries and a top score, Kohli acting as an anchor while chasing the bowlers. Tendulkar will end his ODI career with 2016 boundaries. The latter will face Wahab Riaz as the Master Blaster bends over to direct a short delivery to third man.
It was Saeed Ajmal who got Tendulkar out. Young Rohit Sharma will follow him at number four and put together a stand of 172 runs with Kohli to help India post 331 runs with 13 balls to spare.
Sachin Tendulkar Oneday Total Runs
Tendulkar did not play another ODI for India after this and announced his retirement from playing in 50 overs almost nine months later. He has 18,426 runs and 49 centuries in ODIs as he hangs up his boots at an average of 44.83.
Although the announcement was swift and shocked many fans around the world, the rise of Kohli, Sharma and MS Dhoni convinced Tendulkar that he no longer needed to carry the weight of an entire nation.
After Tendulkar retired from Tests in 2013, former New Zealand captain Martin Crowe said: “Sachin, you have graced 22 yards like no other man or woman has ever seen.” He has beautified the game to a level never seen before. From WG Grace to now, you are above them all.”
