The greatest batsman of modern times has not scored a century in ODIs for three years. Now he can score three centuries in four innings. With 46 tons, Kohli is very close to Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI record of 49 tons. With 166 unbeaten innings, he left little mark.

By the end of India’s innings, Kohli had scored 12754 runs at an average of 58.2. He became the fifth highest run scorer in the format, surpassing Mahela Jayawardene’s 12,650 runs.
Kohli hit eight sixes in the innings, the most for him in an international innings. Prior to this innings, he had seven hits in ODIs against Australia in 2013 and T20Is against West Indies in 2019.

Kohli hit 150 off just 106 balls, the second fastest by an Indian player in an ODI after Ishan Kishan’s feat of 103 against Bangladesh in 2022.
In ODIs, this is Kohli’s 10th century against Sri Lanka. Thanks to this, he became the first batsman to score 10 centuries against the opposition in this format.
It was Kohli’s fifth score of 150 or more in ODIs and the third highest by a batsman. Rohit Sharma is number eight in the list, followed by David Warner (six). Along with Kohli, Chris Gayle and Sachin are in the third position.

His unbeaten 166 is the second highest score in ODIs after 183 against Pakistan in Mirpur in 2013. This is his highest score at home.

Despite a valiant effort in the T20 series and the first two ODIs, Sri Lanka looked unlucky in the third ODI. Chasing a huge target of 373 points in the first innings, Sri Lanka lost by just 67 runs. However, in the third game, he managed to score only 73 points overall.
In the process, it gave India their biggest win by runs in ODIs. They are the first team to score more than 300 points.
Additionally, the total of 73/9 is the lowest total against India in this format. Twice before this I was all out for 96 runs. Sharjah in 1984 and Port of Spain in 2013.
While India scored 373 runs in the first ODI, they scored a total of 350 runs against their opponents, equal to Australia’s eight runs against India. India also scored a total of 350 or more (390/6), making them the first team to score 10 totals of 350 or more against their opponents.

The total of 390/6 is the fourth highest against Sri Lanka in this format. Interestingly, the top three have all been bought by India, with the highest being 414/7 in Rajkot in 2009.
Siraj became India’s enforcer in the powerplay with the ball for the first time since the 2019 World Cup. His 23 wickets at this stage are the most by a bowler from one of the top 10 ranked teams after the WC.
In today’s match, he took four wickets in the first powerplay, marking the second-best performance by an Indian bowler in the first 10 overs of a full 50-over match since 2000.

Of the nine wickets, seven have come in the first 10 overs, the most by an Indian bowler in a bilateral series (where ball data is available) since 2000.

Chasing a huge score, Sri Lanka lost the match in the first 10 overs. Mian’s magic was too hot for them to handle and this phase saw them teetering at 37/5.
Only once since 2000 has an Indian bowler done better in an ODI innings. Against England in 2022, he took 30/5, his best start with the ball.
Sri Lanka suffer yet another lowest score in ODIs against India. Overall, it was India’s 96th win against Sri Lanka, the most against the opposition.
Prior to this victory, Australia had tied Australia’s streak of 95 wins against New Zealand. Sri Lanka holds the record for most losses against India in both the limited over formats. They have lost 19 T20 matches.
