Dhoni on IPL retirement: Looking for an answer? This is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love I received everywhere. The easiest thing would be to leave here but the hardest thing would be to work hard for 9 months and try to play another IPL. This would be my gift, it won’t be easy on the body. You get excited, in the first match at CSK everyone was chanting my name. My eyes were watering, I had to spend some time in the dugout. I realized I had to enjoy it. I think they like me for who I am, they like that I’m so down to earth that I don’t try to portray something I’m not. Make it simple. Every trophy is special but what is special about IPL is every quick game you have to be ready for. There were slips today, the bowling department didn’t work but it was the batsman who took the pressure off today. I’m very disappointed, he’s human but I try to put myself in his shoes, everyone deals with pressure differently. Ajinkya and few others have experience so don’t worry. If anyone is confused, they can always ask. Rayudu’s specialty is that he will always give 100% when he is on his court. But I’ll never win a fair play award with him on the team. I have been playing with him for a long time, since the Indian A tours. He is a player who can play spin and pace equally well. It’s really something special. I had a feeling I was going to do something really special today, it’s just like me, not someone who uses the phone a lot. I hope you enjoy the next stage of your life.

Ambati Rayudu – It’s a fairytale ending and I couldn’t have asked for more. Amazing, very lucky to have played in some great teams. I will remember this win for the rest of my life, for all the hard work of the last 30 years, I’m glad it ended this way. I would like to take this moment to thank my family and my father, without whom I would not be here today.

Tushar Deshpande: I said at the start of the tournament that I wanted to win the IPL and I am very happy with my performance. I will work on the areas that need improvement and with DJ (Bravo) by my side I have clear plans on how to bowl.
Ravindra Jadeja: It feels wonderful to win the fifth title in front of the home crowd. They came in large numbers to support CSK. This crowd was amazing. They waited until late at night for the rain to stop. I would like to congratulate the CSK fans very much. I want to dedicate this win to one of the special members of our team – MS Dhoni. I was just thinking that I have to swing hard no matter what. Yes, anything can happen. I was looking to hit direct because Mohit can bowl slower. I would like to congratulate all CSK fans. Just keep on cheering like you have been.
Ajinkya Rahane: I really liked it. Credit goes to CSK management and Mahi bhai. They said they would fully back me if I got the chance and told me what my role was before the season. They didn’t intervene at all and the freedom given by CSK is huge. I’m really happy with the way he’s hitting. This is really something special. Great character, very intense, very hardworking, good team person, I would say. The shot he made today was very special. Very happy for him.
Moeen Ali: The voice is now gone. Amazing feeling. To beat such a good team by a goal like that was unbelievable. You always learn from EM, how you handle players and different situations.
Who Will Win Toss Today Ipl
Mike Hussey: Can’t take much credit for this, but what a phenomenal game. Credit to GT for the way they fought. Jaddu finally did enough, thankfully. (To MS Dhoni) He is an amazing human being, the biggest strength is taking pressure off the young guys. You saw a good example of that in qualifying with Senapati, he told him to take it easy and he had a great run. Tactically very smart and he and Stephen complement each other very well. That’s the upside of the experience, they’re cool and calm. Some of those shots from Rayudu, I don’t think many in the world can hit slower balls like that.
Stephen Fleming: We have about 20 players and 15 coaches. It’s a caravan of people, but at the end of the day, you’re all just sitting there watching helplessly. (On developing players) He (Pathirana) was tremendous. We were a bit lacking in the bowling department so Tushar stepped up. We have enough talent there with Chahar, Simarjeet and a few others. With Pathirana, the backend suddenly became a weapon for us.
Dwayne Bravo: It was good, very happy with the team and this trip. I have to give credit to this team. We are all happy and proud to see these young bowlers handle the pressure. (To Tushar Deshpande) Happy with his progress, enjoyed working with him and all the other guys. I hope my best friend Kieron Pollard is watching because he has something to catch up on.
Devon Conway: (on his strategy) I think just positive intent, turning for the hills. It was a great batting with Rutu, such a clean hit of the ball. Our partnership has worked very well, a left-right combination and we like to play together. I think it was great, the environment here is really great. We are glad that we are going in the right direction and very good to be part of this group.

Deepak Chahar: Every time we spoke, he (Rayudu) told me that I will win the final. I had conviction! When you play, you just want to contribute. It was a simple plan. Rayudu and I talked that we will give our best and win the title when we play.
Ruturaj Gaikwad: This one was more special because we did well last year. Coming back in style, winning games in Chepauk and winning away games. How everyone has contributed throughout the season. Jinks, Conway… Rayudu has no balls. I would like to dedicate the win to Rayudu. We also talked about getting off to a good start today. With the wicket in hand, we thought we would end up chasing 12-13 more easily.
