In 99 matches before this match, he scored 3308 runs at an average of 50.12 while scoring 137.66. In the 91 innings he has batted in, he has 30 fifties to his name – a fifty every three games on average.

He is now the first Indian to represent his country in 100 matches across all three formats and only the second player in the world after New Zealand great Ross Taylor to achieve this.
As Kohli celebrates this incredible achievement, we take a look back at five of his best knocks in the shortest format.
Although this innings is the only one on this list not to have a fifty, the impact of his knock in the Asia Cup match against Pakistan is priceless and is still regarded as one of Virat Kohli’s best innings in T20 Under
Virat Kohli Leads India To Thrilling Victory Against New Zealand With A Masterclass Innings
India were chasing 84 to win and at first glance, it looked like MS Dhoni’s men would cruise to victory. That was before Mohammad Amir tore through the top order, removing openers Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane for ducks in the first over, and India soon found themselves at 8/3 after Suresh Raina fell prematurely
Kohli lived dangerously early, surviving an lbw screamer and an edge that flew over the slip, but most importantly for India, he survived the tough times. Kohli followed up Amir’s charm with two boundaries in his final over and then batted patiently to almost see India home.
He fell short of fifty but did enough to halt India’s early slump and put them on the brink of victory.

94* against West Indies remains Kohli’s highest score in T20I cricket, but going back to the start of his innings in Hyderabad, it didn’t look like it was going to be.
Best One Day Player Of All Time’: Virat Kohli On His Rise To The Top
Chasing 208 to win, Kohli was on a run-a-ball 20 at the halfway stage when India needed 119 more runs to win. The start of the innings was rather uneventful, but the war of words against Kesrick Williams struck a chord with the Chase Master.
Kohli went on the attack in the second half of the innings, reaching his 50 in style with a maximum. He particularly liked Williams’ bowling, smashing him for three sixes and a four, including two in the penultimate over to send India home.
Five days after Virat Kohli’s sensational chase, West Indies were on the receiving end of yet another remarkable innings from the Indian bat. The circumstances were different – the openers set the scene with 135 runs in the under-11 overs – but the Mumbai match showed King Kohli’s destructive side to the world.
He made his intentions clear by smashing Hayden Walsh for a six on the fifth ball of his innings before hitting Jason Holder for two boundaries and a six in his next over.
Virat Kohli Has Now Played 100 Matches Across Formats Without Scoring A Century.
No bowler was spared on the day, including Kieron Pollard who was bowled by Kohli in the 18th over with three sixes and a four. The fifty came off just 21 balls as Kohli’s blitzkrieg took India to 240 in the first innings.
If one has to point to the innings in which Kohli got the Chase Master tag in the shortest format, it would be the knock in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup against South Africa in Dhaka.
Kutz was a masterclass in how to accelerate your innings in the chase. 17 off 16 when India needed 93 off the last 10, Kohli quickly shifted gears to ensure the pressure of the semi-final chase did not get to the team.

Kohli reached his fifty with a maximum and continued to batter the South African bowlers all over. Needing one to win, Dhoni bowled Beuran Hendricks on the penultimate ball for Kohli to end the innings and put India in the final of the 2014 T20 World Cup.
A virtual body, chasing a semi-final berth at home, India in trouble at 49/3 with an injured Yuvraj Singh at the other end – the stage was set for Virat Kohli to script another memorable chase for the Men in Blue.
Few T20I innings in which a batsman scored as many runs as Kohli did that day could be called flawless, but it was just that.
At the fall of Yuvraj’s wicket, Kohli was still on 35 for 30 with India needing 67 off the last six overs. He needed just 31 balls to finish the match.

With MS Dhoni at the top, it was much easier for Kohli to run between the wickets. He reached his fifty in 40 balls, but he hardly celebrated, knowing that he had a bigger task ahead of him.
The equation was reduced to 39 from 18. James Faulkner’s first three balls went 4, 4, 6 to concede a total of 19. Nathan Coulter-Nile was bowled over by similar treatment as Kohli collected four boundaries in the final over.
Dhoni ended the match in style with a four while Virat went down on his knees at the other end with a smile on his face, taking India to the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2016.

Kohli’s knock against Pakistan in India’s first T20 World Cup match broke all records as he partnered Hardik Pandya and led the innings calmly. Kohli slammed Pakistan’s fiery bowling attack in the final over. His 82 off 53 balls helped India win by four wickets to the last ball in a thriller.
Having already scored three half-centuries in the T20 World Cup, Kohli’s blistering form continued as he scored just 64 runs.
