In the year of the World Cup, Kohli scored 100* against Bangladesh in Dhaka and after the World Cup, he recorded his maiden off the continent in Cardiff against England. He followed it up with another ton against the same opposition at home in Delhi and finished with 117 against the West Indies in Vizag. Four tons, all in ODIs, were recorded in 2011.

2012 was perhaps the year Kohli became the beast he is today. He recorded eight centuries in the year including his first Test Ton in Adelaide and Australia. He made two more tons during the year – at home, against New Zealand and England. In ODIs, he recorded his highest score, a mammoth 183 against Pakistan in Dhaka. He also recorded three ODI tons against Sri Lanka in the same year.
The six centuries he recorded in 2013 included ODI tons in Zimbabwe and the West Indies and a Test ton against South Africa in Johannesburg. He also made a Test century against Australia in Chennai.
Kohli scored 19 centuries in the seasons between 2014 and 2016 and became the world’s leading batsman in the series. He started 2014 with an ODI ton against New Zealand in Napier. A Test ton in Wellington followed but the highlight of the year was his impressive Test series in Australia where he scored three tons – 115 and 141 in Adelaide and 169 in Melbourne.
He continued the trend in 2015 and scored four tons in the Australia series in Sydney. This was followed by a World Cup century against Pakistan. A Test hundred in Galle against Sri Lanka and an ODI century against the Proteas at home completed an impressive 2015 for him.

Centuries followed in 2016 as he recorded seven of them in a series including a second century against the West Indies. Two more tons followed in the year – against New Zealand and England.
It’s been a long year in international cricket for Virat Kohli, 2017 and 2018 saw him score 22 international hundreds including 10 in Test cricket alone. In 2017, he also registered two tons against Bangladesh and back-to-back double centuries against Sri Lanka at home. He also scored tons of ODIs against England and West Indies in 2017 but Sri Lanka was his main target. Two ODI tons, two Test hundreds and two Test double hundreds were recorded in 2017 in Sri Lanka alone.
In 2018, he made three ODI hundreds in a six-match series in South Africa and posted a ton in the same match in Centurion. Two Test tons were recorded in England as well before the next ODI ton against the Windies at home. In Australia, he recorded a ton test in Perth.

With cricket slowly returning to normalcy in 2021 and the team playing and traveling in a safe bio-bubble due to Covid-19, Kohli did not score a hundred for India in 2021.

Virat Kohli started the new year with his 45th ODI ton, his 73rd international hundred. Kohli scored 113 off 87 balls against Sri Lanka at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
He followed it up with another ton in the third match of the Sri Lankan ODI series at the Greenfield International Stadium. The knock took him just three away from Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most ODI centuries.
Kohli also ended his long wait for a Test Ton after scoring 186 against Australia in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar trophy in March. He followed it up with another Test hundred in July against the West Indies in the second of the two-match series against the Windies. He made 121 before being dismissed.

The Delhi-born cricketer later hit his 77th hundred against rivals Pakistan in the Super Four of the 2023 Asia Cup at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. He scored an unbeaten 122 off just 94 balls, with nine fours and three sixes.

A month later, he was at it again as Kohli smashed his 78th hundred against Bangladesh in the 2023 ODI World Cup. His 97-ball 103 helped India register a comfortable 7-wicket win.
The 2023 World Cup double hundred and his 79th international cricket match against South Africa in the 37th match of the tournament at the Eden Gardens. He hit an unbeaten 101 to help India set the Proteas a target of 327 to chase. In response, South Africa was only 83 as India won the match by 243 runs.
Meanwhile, Kohli’s third ODI ton in the 2023 World Cup and the 80th of his career came against New Zealand in the first half of the first 50-run match. His hundred helped India set 398 for New Zealand to chase down.
