India’s 2018 tour of England got off to a nightmare start with Kohli’s men losing the first two matches of the series at Trent Bridge and Lords. The defeat in the second Test drew a lot of criticism as the team was outclassed in all departments.
However, they pulled off a remarkable comeback in the third match at Nottingham with a stunning 203-run win. It was Kohli who led the way with scores of 97 and 103 in two innings. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya took a five-wicket haul in the first innings while Jasprit Bumrah did the same in the second innings.

India’s tour of South Africa in 2018 was Kohli’s first major overseas assignment in the ‘SENA’ country. Despite cricket pundits giving India a good chance before the series, they lost the first two matches of the three-match series.
However, despite losing the series, India put in a memorable performance in the third and final match in Johannesburg. In what was a low-scoring game, Kohli’s batting once again stood out with knocks of 54 and 41 in India’s total of 187 and 247 respectively.

Before India toured Australia in 2018/19, no Test series had ever been won on Australian soil in history. While many tipped Kohli’s men with a great opportunity to create history, the series entered the third Test 1-1 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground with everything to play for in the Boxing Day Test match.

Not only did this ensure India retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy, but with the rain-affected fourth Test ending in a draw, the MCG win was crucial to a historic series victory for his men Kohli.
Arguably, India’s biggest win under Kohli came in 2021 at the Home of Cricket – Lord’s. After the first match of the series ended in a draw, England opted to bat first in the second match at Lord’s, but KL Rahul put on a 126-run partnership with India opener Rohit Sharma.
