16 teams, including 11 full members of the ICC and 5 partner countries will compete. They are divided into four groups. Since the group league is in a single round-robin format, each team gets three games during this stage. Then the first three in each group will advance to the next stage – Super Six Round.
The 12 successful teams will be divided into two teams with six members each. The top two teams from these two groups will advance to the knockout stage. The semi-finals are on January 27 and the winners will meet in the summit clash on January 29 at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom.
The ICC U19 Women’s World Cup consists of 41 matches which will be played at various venues in South Africa.
The India U19 women’s team looks good to bring home the coveted trophy in the first series after their recent form. They have won their last three matches against the Proteas. The group led by Shafali Verma will face South Africa, United Arab Emirates and Scotland in Group D.
