A TDER Commercial Committee (TCC) consisting of nine experts was formed to evaluate the tenders. Additionally, Mumbai-based civil engineering consultancy STUP Consultants has been appointed as the project management consultant to evaluate the proposals and technical details of each proposal in partnership with TCC.
All three applicants presented their designs, models and technical details of their concepts and designs. Due to the large scale and complexity of the project, bidders were evaluated on multiple parameters such as efficiency, resources, completion time, ease of implementation, etc. Bidders are ranked and weighted based on all parameters.
On 16 January 2017, the project was supervised by the Gujarat Cricket Association and was officially launched on the same day. The stadium is scheduled to be completed within two years and the renovation project will cost around 7 billion rupees (US$93 million).
The stadium completed its final works in February 2020 and will host a day-night Test match between India and India in 2021.
