Chris Gayle smashed his sixth and final century in the tournament in the 2018 tournament while still representing the Royal Challengers. Interestingly, Kohli’s last century in a tournament before this season came against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2019. He ended his wait for triple-figure scores with a successful run against the Sunrisers earlier this week.

With Du Plessis (28), Glenn Maxwell (11) and Mahipal Romlor (1) dismissed in quick succession, Kohli continued on a rotational strike and formed an important partnership with Michael Bracewell (26). Kohli also brought up his half-century in 35 deliveries and soon switched gears, despite Bracewell and Dinesh Karthik (0) being dismissed again in quick succession.

Kohli eventually brought up his century in 60 balls and took just 25 balls in the next 50. He reached the coveted triple figures in the final of the innings against Mohit Sharma, who pushed a delivery towards long-on for a single.
This was also Kohli’s eighth century in T20 cricket, level with the Australian trio of David Warner, Aaron Finch and Michael Klinger.
