Indian Batting Needs Fresh Approach To Save Series V Kiwis
The Indian team recorded a remarkable win against England in the first ODI of the series at the Kennington Oval. The Rohit Sharma-led side bowled out the visitors for just 110, with fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah taking six wickets while Mohammed Shami picked up three. Bumrah’s figures of 6/19 in 7.2 overs were the best of his international career in the 50-over format as he was named man of the match. However, Indian fans also heaved a sigh of relief as captain Rohit also fired back into the game.
Chasing a low target, Rohit put up a fine display of power hitting skills as he smashed 7 fours and 5 sixes en route to an unbeaten 76 off 58 deliveries. During the innings, Rohit also created an Indian record as he became only the fourth batsman in ODI history to achieve the remarkable feat.

New Delhi: India’s star left-handed batsman Rinku Singh was back in action with the bat for India during the second T20 International against South Africa at the St George’s Oval in Gkeberha on Tuesday. However, the Men in Blue lost the match by five wickets (DLS Method) but Rinku’s knock was positive for Team India. After being sent in first, India found themselves in deep trouble, losing both their openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill without scoring. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma somehow brought India back into the contest but Varma was sent back to the pavilion after scoring 29. India’s score was 55/3 in the sixth over when Varma departed and Rinku reached the crease.
Top 5: Most Runs By An Active Indian Batter In The Odi World Cup
He was first involved in a 70-run stand with Suryakumar Yadav and took his time to settle before going all out during the death overs. The consistency that Rinku has shown with the bat while playing for India since his debut against Ireland has been nothing short of remarkable. In no time, Rinku emerged as a major player in India. He proved it again with an unbeaten 68 in 39 balls with nine boundaries and two maximums that took India to a comfortable 180/7 in a rain-soaked contest. Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar was impressed with the 26-year-old’s bang and said he was getting better with every innings and that he got every shot in the book.
“He has every opportunity in the book.” He can hit you off the front foot. He can hit you from the back foot as you can see there, with the kick up. He has every shot in the book on the offside and leg side. Well, when he gets going, it’s difficult to shut him down, so it will help his confidence a lot to get his first half-century,” Gavaskar said.
Rinku did not get a challenging opportunity since his debut until they faced the Australian side in a five-match T20I series. And in the first game itself, Rinku scored 14-ball-22 to lead India to a two-wicket win. In the next over, the southpaw played a spin and scored 31 in just nine deliveries, taking India to a mammoth total. He did not get a chance to score in the third match, but scored 29-ball-46 in the fourth T20I. His run came to an end after he scored a disappointing six in the fifth and final T20I, but there’s no denying that Rinku had a massive outing against the Kangaroos. India eventually won the series 4-1. The Men in Blue ended the Asia Cup on a high after a 101-run win against Afghanistan. First, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli put on a stand of 119 runs.
