Junior Julia Orzoł, who was playing outside hitter this game with sophomore Gülce Güçtekin starting at libero, opened the game with some early kills and Robinson had five in the first set. Temi Thomas-Ailara, who had 12 kills on Friday night against Baylor, was rested, meaning that Orzoł and Güçtekin fulfilled their roles from last season.
Setter Izzy Ashburn opened the match with two aces, and Wisconsin was scoreless the rest of the first frame. Robinson had five kills in the start, and CC Crawford, Anna Smrek and Carter Booth chipped in with multiple blocks early.
The Badgers finished with a team-high 10 blocks, with Booth leading the way with seven kills. The Minnesota transfer made his presence felt in a big way, with UW outscoring TCU 10 to seven on the day.
Although TCU star outside hitter Melanie Parra gave UW some hits at times — she had eight kills on the day as the Frogs’ top hitter — the Badgers were able to shut down Fort Worth’s offense.

Güçtekin and Orzoł both posted double-digit digs on the night to pace TCU’s offense. Wisconsin outshot the Frogs 39-32, and Güçtekin had 10 and Orzoł 11.
It was another night where the Badgers forced more offensive mistakes from their opponents. UW hummed as well as they hit .344 in the game, no seven dipped below the .300 hit mark, while TCU was hindered with 18 offensive errors and hit just .120 in the game.
Sarah Franklin once again reached double digits from the outside, bringing home 11 kills for UW with a .308 hitting percentage.

The Badgers’ next game is a trip down south to Fayetteville, Ark., to face the 25th-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks (1-0) on Wednesday and Thursday nights. On Sunday night the Union was on top of the world. Finally, after drawing so many games and taking so many advantages, they were rewarded for their efforts. The goal they were looking for finally arrived in the 96th minute to take the lead over rivals NYCFC. Everything was fine, they found out in the end.
Then it happened on Wednesday night … Chicago pretty much controlled the game from the get-go, and the faithful Union expected the team to slowly come out of the blocks and eventually take over. They didn’t. Chicago should have taken the lead in the second half.
Philadelphia showed a lot of life early in the second half. A great cross from Kai Wagner found Cory Burke open in the middle of the box for what should have been a goal. Instead, we all saw why 18-year-old Chicago star Gabriel Slonina has been linked with Real Madrid this summer. His awareness to cut the ball off the line was only surpassed by his brilliant header.
This was the Union’s chance. Chicago went back on the attack and finally took the lead in the 68th minute. Christopher Mueller made one of the best moves you’ll see all month to beat Kai Wagner. His cross would bounce off Federico Navarro on the edge of the area, giving the locals a 1-0 lead. Despite penalty shouts in the 96th minute, the Union could not find the balance, the 1-0 win was only their second of the season.

“It’s a good reminder that if we don’t give our maximum intensity from the 11 men, in this series we will beat you no matter where you are in the table.” head coach Jim Curtin said after the loss.
Curtin has been talking all year about how there are no gifts in MLS, no easy three points. Any team can beat anyone, and it wasn’t Union Day. They slowly started coming out the gates and could not catch up.
Despite Burke’s effort, it was very similar to Inter Miami draw, where there was no creativity in the construction. Add in the second yellow card shown to José Martínez in the 72nd minute, and everything that could have gone wrong did. It was like a team hungover from a big win.

“We all need to be better,” said Curtin. “And again, the margins of this series are tight. The margins for the Philadelphia Union are really tight, so if we have a few guys who don’t work hard, that’s what it looks like.”
Win The Match Today
The Union benefited from Cincinnati after taking a point from New York tonight in an eight-goal thriller, although fans will be looking to take a 3-0 lead and not give up three goals in stoppage time. Philadelphia remains in first place by one point, but will have to make up for it in Sunday’s final in Columbus. Down the stretch, the No. 1 Wisconsin Badgers were no. 3 (14-3 Big Ten, 23-3 overall) could do a lot against the No. 1 Purdue Boilermakers. 16 (12-5, 18-8), dropping his second straight game. the road, this time in five sets (25-22, 19-25, 22-25, 25-23, 14-26).
Although center back Anna Smrek was on the tour, the Canadian star did not play for the second game in a row, resulting in another impromptu rotation with Julia Orzoł rejoining the starting line-up and Gülce Güçtekin stepping down cheap

For the second straight game, this lineup change seemed to affect the Badgers, who lacked a consistent option outside of outside hitter Sarah Franklin. The 6-foot-4 hitter played well again, blasting home 28 kills while hitting .343, including eight in the first set alone.
In that first game, the Badgers had an early 6-0 deficit before fighting back to win the first set 25-22. While Franklin was a bright spot, Wisconsin’s other players struggled. Devyn Robinson needed several sets to advance and opened the game negatively due to Purdue’s block. It was a rare Wisconsin game where they were shut out, with Purdue scoring 12 to 10 for the Badgers.
Although Wisconsin got off to a fast start in the second set, taking an 8-3 lead and forcing the Boilermakers into a timeout, Purdue came back in the series to go up 16-15 and force a timeout on Wisconsin . The Badgers were unable to come back in the second set, falling 25-19.

Purdue’s main offense came from outside hitters Eva Hudson and Chloe Chicoine. Hudson had 30 kills while Chicoine only added 11 kills but had 23 digs, just behind Purdue libero Maddie Schermerhorn.

In a tight third set, Purdue took a 15-12 lead and was able to hold on to go up 2-1 in the game. While Wisconsin had a good day serving and had eight aces, the Badgers had just one ace the rest of the way.
Wisconsin rallied in the fourth to battle for the fifth seed. UW had 17 kills and zero errors in the quarter to stay alive. Carter Booth, Temi Thomas-Ailara and Carter Booth joined Franklin in double kills, while Orzoł again had six reps as an outside hitter. But in the crucial fifth set, the Boilermakers handed UW their second straight loss, the first time the program has lost multiple games in a row since the 2019 season.
The loss also means the Badgers are likely out of the conference title race. With Nebraska still undefeated in the conference, with a game at the Field House coming up on Black Friday, the Badgers will have to beat the Huskers and hope Nebraska loses again to share the title.
But before any of those thoughts, Wisconsin has a quick turnaround to try to stop the skid against the Indiana Hoosiers (9-8, 19-11) in Bloomington on Sunday afternoon. This game takes place at 12:00. Central in Big Ten plus.
