The Shikhar Dhawan-led India team is all set to begin the white-ball tri-ODI against Sri Lanka this week. The Men in Blue have not played since March and this will be India’s first white-ball series since the home T20I series against England.

As India’s openers are in the UK, the selection committee had to pick a second team. There are as many as 6 players who are still playing international cricket. India’s 20-member squad also includes players who are yet to play in at least one format.

A few days before the series, the Indian players took part in a photo shoot. BCCI took the opportunity to introduce 6 new faces to the squad to the fans. The cast includes Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Nitish Rana, Krishnappa Gowtham, Varun Chakravarthy and Chetan Sakaria. Padikkal earned his first India call-up thanks to performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (737 runs) and IPL 2021 (195 runs). Gaikwad and Rana scored 196 and 201 runs respectively in the first match of IPL 2021.
