He then featured in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup victory, scoring the most runs with 75 in the final. The left-hander also played a vital role in the 2011 ODI World Cup final, scoring a good total of 97 runs. He played his last match for India in November 2016 and announced his retirement in December 2018.
After hanging up his boots, he entered politics and was a member of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He is also the advisor of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) of the IPL.
Rahul Dravid was the captain of the Indian team when Rohit made his international debut in 2007. Dravid resigned as captain in September of that year, months after India’s elimination from the World Cup ODI to West Indies in first round.
