The T20 World Cup final between England and Pakistan will be played at the prestigious Melbourne Cricket Ground, which has a capacity of over 90,000 spectators. However, rain could prove to be a mood breaker, as has happened in previous matches at this venue.

The weather forecast in Melbourne is not very good as rain is expected in the city on Sunday, however, there is a venue nearby which is the only indoor cricket stadium in the world. Docklands Stadium is the home of the Melbourne Renegades.

It has hosted various matches in the past and is very close to the iconic MCG, and the Docklands Stadium has a retractable roof, but then why not also use it as a reserve day backup?

Already, three out of six matches at the MCG have been abandoned due to rain, including Afghanistan vs New Zealand, Afghanistan vs Ireland and England vs Australia.

The England vs Ireland match was decided by the DLS method after play was interrupted due to rain and only two matches in Melbourne were completed without being spoiled by rain.

However, the Docklands Stadium, which has an indoor retractable roof amid the threat of rain, was not considered for the T20 World Cup final due to logistical issues.

According to a report in the Herald Sun, the Docklands Stadium is a multi-sport venue and is not ready for a World Cup final sized match.

There is no drop-in pitch available, and while the MCG can hold up to 90,000 fans, the Docklands Stadium has a capacity of only 50,000, which will create another logistical problem.
